The Johnson Foundation Environmental Forum - Working Session #1: Impact of Climate Change on Freshwater Resources and Services in the US
This conference will focus on defining the science of the interface between climate change and freshwater resources. To the extent possible, the conference will also break the analysis down by region and define impacts as specifically as the science allows. This is the first in a series of meetings leading up to a conference focused on laying out a national agenda for response to the impact of climate change on our freshwater systems and related infrastructure.

The Johnson Foundation Environmental Forum - Working Session #2: Examining US Freshwater Systems and Services: Infrastructure and the Built Environment
This conference will focus on identifying a path toward water resilience for the built environment (e.g. cities and suburbs) in the United States by a certain date (e.g. 2025, 2030). This is the second in a series of meetings leading up to a high profile meeting in May 2010 focused on laying out a national agenda for achieving water resilience for U.S. freshwater systems and services.

Defending the Water Commons
To explore the development of an innovative legal framework for protecting water that could have serious potential for effecting change in courts, legislatures, and other legal arenas while meeting the needs of on-the-ground activists. Participants will seek to articulate a conceptual and policy approach that can promote intergenerational social justice and preserve the ecological health of natural systems while advancing democratic ideals and practice.

Assessing Risks to Migratory Wildlife from Wind Energy Development
The purpose of this workshop is to establish the state of scientific information on the potential risks to migratory wildlife (birds and bats) from large-scale wind energy development and operations, and to define the research agenda for filling the gaps in our collective knowledge.

Strategic and Technical Training for State Smart Growth Advocates
To provide training to smart growth leaders in six primary areas (communications, organizational management/leadership, policy campaigns, fundraising, organizational infrastructure, and building/leading coalitions) in order to build a more cohesive, politically savvy, and integrated network of state smart growth organizations that wields greater influence across the country. By equipping smart growth groups' organizational leadership to become more effective advocates, this training boot camp serves our larger, long-term goal: to improve communities through better development decisions and growth patterns.
