Community

Rooted in the Racine community, The Johnson Foundation at Wingspread places programming emphasis on the most relevant and critical issues impacting southeastern Wisconsin. The Foundation’s local and regional focus aims to have an impact on community challenges and engage a wide range of perspectives. Working with community stakeholders, the Foundation collaborates with diverse partners to conduct conferences and meetings to discuss local issues and identify solutions to improve the quality of life locally and regionally.

Do what’s best for the family.
Do what’s best for the company.
Do what’s best for the community.
We are here to make a difference
in this world.

Helen Johnson-Leipold
Chairman, The Johnson Foundation at Wingspread

The Foundation also sponsors briefings designed to inform the community and/or explore new ideas on a broad range of topics.

The three objectives of the Foundation’s community programming include:

  • Building southeastern Wisconsin’s capacity to resolve issues or problems by helping strengthen the effectiveness and collaboration of local organizations to deliver on their individual and collective missions
  • Promoting ideas and strategies that contribute to enhancing community health and vitality and address pressing issues or needs
  • Conducting programs and activities that promote creativity, innovation and dissemination of knowledge and ideas

Additionally, we conduct special events, such as performances, in collaboration with select community organizations.
