Paul R. Portney
Paul R. Portney, Dean of the Eller College of Management
at the University of Arizona, was elected
to The Johnson Foundation Board of Trustees
in June 1999 and chairs the Finance and Investment
Committee. Eller College is the second largest
College at The University of Arizona and its
programs in Management Information Systems
and Entrepreneurship are among the highest
ranked among business schools nationwide.
Dr. Portney also holds the College's Halle
Chair in Leadership. From 1972 through June
of 2005, Dr. Portney was with Resources for
the Future (RFF), an independent and non-partisan
research and educational organization in Washington,
D.C. that specializes in energy and the environment.
He was named RFF's President and CEO in 1995.
From 1979-1980, Dr. Portney served as Chief
Economist for the White House Council on Environmental
Quality. He has held visiting teaching positions
at the University of California at Berkeley
and Princeton University. Until 2005, he was
a member of the Sustainable Forestry Board,
serving with CEOs of major forest products
companies and heads of environmental organizations.
Dr. Portney is the author or co-author of
ten books, including Public Policies for
Environmental Protection, and was recently
named one of the 100 most-cited researchers
in economics and business.
