Gwen Ifill
Gwen Ifill, moderator and managing editor of "Washington
Week" and senior correspondent for "The NewsHour
with Jim Lehrer," was elected to The Johnson
Foundation Board of Trustees in June 2001.
Previously, Ms. Ifill was NBC News Chief Congressional
and Political Correspondent, where she covered
political stories affecting the nation. Her
reports appeared on "NBC Nightly News with
Tom Brokaw," "Today," "Meet the Press," and
MSNBC. A veteran journalist, Ms. Ifill joined
NBC News from The New York Times, where
she covered the White House and politics.
She also worked for The Washington Post,
The Baltimore Evening Sun, and
The Boston Herald American. A native
of New York City and a graduate of Simmons
College in Boston, Ms. Ifill has received
eight honorary degrees. She serves on the
board of the Harvard University Institute
of Politics and the University of Maryland's
Philip Merrill College of Journalism.
