Green Practices
Our mission is to be a catalyst for positive and lasting change leading to healthier environments and communities.
Green Practices
Healthier environments and communities are our mandate. The Precautionary Principle, a landmark statement on environmental risk, took root here, as did the LEED standards for green buildings and the Presidential Climate Action Plan.
In addition to supporting others’ green work, sustainability ialso defines the way we manage our conferences and maintain our grounds and facilities. Our in-house sustainability team is dedicated to continuing to find new and better ways to reduce our footprint on the environment.
Sustainable Site Maintenance
Sustainable site maintenance discourages development on previously undeveloped land, seeks to minimize a building’s impact on ecosystems and waterways, encourages regionally appropriate landscaping, rewards smart transportation choices, controls storm water runoff and, promotes reduction of erosions, light pollution, heat island effect and construction related pollution.
